  MOTION PICTURE ´L´INVERNO´

"L´Inverno" is an original, dramatic work and epically entralling tale that is a cross between The Pianist by Roman Polanski and Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni. The title "L´Inverno" is taken and inspired by Antonios Vivaldis, Winter, from the Four Seasons. A captivating forbidden love story between an SS Officer and a Jewish violinst.  An expression of the catalystic power of music  that brings our characters together,  we explore the human condition. We witness the essence of these relationships and their importance as we journey with each character and watch the conflicts that arise as this intense character driven tale is placed under the confrontational, challenging circumstances of war. A heroic struggle of overcoming all obstacles. Emotionally stirring & strikingly atmospheric. A compelling dramatic motion picture experience.

The film centrally takes place in Vienna, Austria then moves to the South of France and ultimately completing its journey in New York City, it is set in WWII between 1938-1945. Journey with our central characters Jewish violinist Elisabeth Soloveichik, her brother Aaron and SS Officer Nikolaus Führich who´s paths , pasts and destinies are intertwined and intrinsically linked. An exploration of not only the human elements of survival but also the inner conflicts that arise from the clash of loyalties between family, love & country.

Euterpe, the Greek muse of music & lyrical poetry serves as one of the inspirations throughout  the film as scenes are linked by music from Vivaldi, Bach, Marcello, Beethoven and Händel. Several poetic & musical extracts are also included in the screenplay that are based on the inspired writings of several Jewish & Eutrepe themed literature, music & poetry. Kristallnacht, flashbacks of WWI, La Chambon sur Lignon and Pastor Andre Trocme and VE Day serves also of some of the inspirations through the piece.

We believe the role of the film artist is crucial in influencing our views and actions. No other medium has such a direct impact on the consciousness and emotions of the people and consequently, filmmakers have particular responsibility in our global society. "L´Inverno" expresses themes of humanity and hope. It deals with the battles of beliefs and the impact of discrimination and its effects on the human spirit. Its themes are universal and have current relevance as genocide, human rights violations and crimes against humanity are still on going. May it help provide the message and lessons learned that this may end and never happen again.

The main interest in the film is expected to come from the middle age mature audience range, the largest segment of the population. They are seeking a high quality, emotional and character driven movie experience. They also make up the largest range of frequent movie goers. The films story is compelling & intense holding the audience captivated. The overlying theme of love, heroic struggle and overcoming all obstacles will identify with the mature audience and particulary younger audiences. They will identify with the main characters, flashbacks from their youth and the trails and tribulations as they confront the challenging circumstances that they overcome. L´Inverno is currently in the pre-production development phase where we are identifying major producers, a director,  production houses and investors.                                                                                          Music L´inverno: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eH4oGJcCzdM

   FILM PHILOSOPHY

Why film has relevance, importance and can be transformative for todays societal & future generations. Your support helps create a film that can provide social implications for change. The importance of the Holocaust and it stories raise important questions of what it means to be human and how we ensure that these atrocities are never repeated against our fellow human beings.  The medium of film can assist in providing an opportunity for cultural development and as well assist in the chance for opening dialogue where we can raise awareness for the reconciliation of the past and build a bridge of tolerance and understanding.

   CENTRAL CHARACTERS

Elisabeth Soloveichik:

“ How shall I honor your passing. Your coffin which is not. It will not slide from roaring canons and only through columns of air.. It will illuminate your death.. with sun rays. When its rays rest upon my skin..I will remember you..”

A Jewish woman in her mid 30´s who is a violinist. She lives in an apartment with her brother. Formally, she was a successful, classical musician who performed in the best music halls and with the best orchestras in Austria. Being ostracized by the musical establishment because of her religion she therefore no longer works. She spends a lot of time at home and takes care of her brother, her only remaining family. She likes to play her violin on her balcony. We follow Elisabeths journey as she is confronted with and over comes seemingly insurmountable circumstances and challenges. Her music, love and family are her guides.

SS Officer Nikolaus Führich:

In the wind, in the wave, in the fall, each note of thine dwells. Euterpe has gathered from all. The sweetest has weaved into spells. She makes a miraculous power of thee with her magical skill. From music, love inspired. Yea, from music, love inspired…”

Handsome, tall, man of 35-40 years old. His post is as a SS Officer where by he works and asists SS Officer Bauer in his administration duties. They are responsible for the removal and transportation of undesirables, a position that supports his ailing mother and his unemployed brother. He is ambitious and believes in the Third Reich. He hopes for a better Austria. There is an air of arrogance about him. It’s a front that is challenged as we witness the change of his political beliefs and the inner conflicts he faces as he fatefully meets Elisabeth whose music touches him and stirs his deepest emotions. Nikolaus follows his uncompromising heart but at a cost and with dire consequences.

Aaron Soloveichik:

“ You know at times when the mud is cold and hard..and the mist comes in..and the endless rows upon rows of huts..And the sound-almost..magical-of a violin enters my mind..suspended in the air..like a soaring bird..”

In his late 40´s he was also a former violinist. He was very famous and more successful than his sister. He performed as a soloist all around Europe. He fought in WWI for Austria. During battle his left arm was sliced by a jagged edged rifle. The injury was such that it damaged his nerves so severely that he is now maimed and has no longer has use of his left arm, therefore can no longer play the violin. He tells his sister that he spends most of his time looking for work but in reality he spends it mostly in dingy bars and guesthouses around Vienna. He is an intense man with an emotionally damaged past. Aarons fate is sealed when he is transported to a concentration camp. Out of the desolation he discovers the memory of music and the meeting of an angelic woman, Fransiska who befriends him. These moments allow him to cope with his horrific situation he finds himself in.

SS Officer Bauer:

“ Is one still faithful to the remembrance of the ´dream` and vision of our Führer?..No words..well,well, venomous is the taste of such remembrance?…”

A lonely, grumpy, eccentric old Viennese man in his late 60´s. His job is to type lists of Jews and other undesirables who will be sent to concentration and work camps. He feels conflicted by his work and does not really like it but because of circumstances that surround him he plays along with the current regime. He lost his only love to the Spanish Flu. Elisabeths music distracts him from his duties and acts as a form of escapism from his daily reality. It takes him back to better days and to the romanticism of his lost love. This escapism and flirtation with music ultimately proves to be too dangerous for Officer Bauer.
